A Little More About Money--Our Attitudes, Debt, and Giving

1. The Bible says God is the owner of all things. Our material possessions are gifts from God.

１ 全地は神様のものです！ 世界中のものがすべて神様の持ち物です！
Psalm 24:1

2. The Bible says we will never be satisfied, even if we are rich.

１０ 金銭を愛する者は、決してこれで満足だということがありません。金さえあれば幸せだという考えは、なんとばかげていることでしょう。
Ecclesiastes 5:10

3. The Bible says the love of money (greed) is a root of all kinds of evil.

１０お金を愛することは、あらゆる悪の根源です。 中にはお金を愛するあまり、信仰を捨て、神様から離れてしまった人もいます。 おかげで、そんな人はわが身を刺し通す、激しい悲しみに襲われるのです。 1 Timothy 6:10

This does not mean that rich people are evil. (Only those who have getting rich as their # 1 goal in life)


4. Jesus said we cannot serve two masters. Either we will serve money or we will serve God. Luke 16:13) We have to make a choice about which one we will serve.

２４ だれも、神とお金の両方に仕えることはできません。 必ず、どちらか一方を憎んで、他方を愛するからです。 Matthew 6:24

１３ だれも、二人の主人に仕えることはできません。 一方を憎んで他方に忠実であるか、あるいは、一方を重んじて他方は軽んじるようになるからです。 神とお金の両方に仕えることはできないのです。」 Luke 16:13

5. How does the Bible say we should we feel about money?

The Bible says we should not put our hope in wealth, but we should put our hope in God. God is eternal. Money is temporary.

１７金持ちには、高慢にならないように、そして、すぐになくなるお金に望みをかけないように教えなさい。 また、必要なものをいっさい備えて、私たちの人生を楽しませてくださる生ける神様を誇りとし、この方だけを信頼するように忠告しなさい。
1 Timothy 6:17

6. The Bible also commands us to “do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share”.

１８また、お金の生きた使い道を教えてやりなさい。 自分の持ち物はすべて神様からいただいた物だとわきまえて、困っている人には喜んで分けてやるように心がけなさい。 そうすれば、神様の前でたくさんの善行をほどこす者となり、

7. Who should we share our money with?

The Bible says we should give our money to other people and to God.

Who are the other people we should give our money to?

8. The Bible says we should give everyone what we owe them.

７支払うべきものは、だれにでも支払いなさい。 税金や輸入税をすすんで納め、上に立つ人々に従い、敬うべき人を敬い、重んずべき人を重んじなさい。
Romans 13:7

If we owe taxes, we should pay our taxes. If we owe money to the bank, we should pay the bank. If we owe money to the store, we should pay the store. If we owe money to a friend, we should pay our friend.

(This verse also says we should pay respect and honor to those who are deserving of it.)

The Bible also warns us not to have debts.

８借りがあれば、全部返しなさい。 ただし、他の人を愛するという「借り」だけは別です。 その「借り」だけは、いつまでも返し続けなさい。 というのは、人を愛することは、神様のすべてのおきて、すべての要求にかなうことだからです。
Romans 13:8

The only debt God wants us to have is the debt to love one another. This is a debt that can never fully be paid.


9. The Bible also says we should give money to the poor.

１１貧しい人はいつでもいるから、この戒めはどうしても必要です。 くどいようですが、貧しい人には進んで貸しなさい。 Deuteronomy 15:11

２７ 貧しい人を助けておけば、いざという時に困りませんが、見て見ぬふりをすると恨まれます。 Proverbs 28:27

The Bible says when we are generous, we will be blessed generously.

３８与えなさい。 そうすれば与えられます。 彼らは、ますに押し込んだり、揺すり入れたりしてたっぷり量り、あふれるばかりにして返してくれます。 自分が量るそのはかりで、自分も量り返されるのです。」 Luke 6:38


10.The Bible says we should not boast or brag about how much
we give.

３ですから、人に親切にする時は、右手が何をしているか左手でさえ気づかないくらいに、こっそりとしなさい。 ４そうすれば、隠れたことはどんな小さなことでもご存じの天の父から、必ずごほうびがいただけます。 神様に聞かれる祈り
Matthew 6:3-4

11.Jesus also said we should “give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and give to God what is God’s”.

２１ 「カイザル（ローマ皇帝）です。」 「そのとおり。 ローマ皇帝のものなら、それはローマ皇帝に返しなさい。 しかし神のものは全部、神に返さなければなりません。」
Matthew 22:21


What does the Bible say about our gifts to God?

12.First, God only wants us to give to him because we want to give, not because we feel like we have to give.

１２上等のより糸で織ったリンネル十枚をつなぎ合わせ、神の天幕を作りなさい。 布はそれぞれ長さ十四メートル、幅二メートルとする。 青と紫と深紅のより糸を使い、全体にケルビム（天使の像）を織り出す。 Exodus 25:1-2

７いくらささげたらよいかは、各自が決めるべきです。 自分はこれだけささげようと思っている人に、もっとたくさんささげるように強制してはいけません。 神様にとっては、喜んで与えるかどうかが大事なのです。 2 Corinthians 9:7

Remember that everything belongs to God, anyway. He doesn’t need our gifts! He wants us to give as an expression of our love for Him.

13.The Bible says our gifts should be in proportion to our income. (A rich person should give more than a poor person.)

１７神様の祝福に応じて、ささげられるだけささげるのです。
Deuteronomy 16:17


14.What should this proportion be? Again, it is up to each person to decide. The Biblical standard is a tithe (10%). The Bible promises that God will bless us if we faithfully give a tithe.

１０収入の十分の一をすべて倉に携えて来い。 そうすれば、神殿には食べ物が十分あるようになる。 そうすれば、わたしは天の窓を開いて、すばらしい祝福をあふれるばかりに注ごう。 試してみよ。 わたしに、そのことを証明させてほしい。
Malachi 3:10

15.Finally, it is important to remember that our gifts to God are meaningless unless they are given with a pure heart and the right motivation. God is more interested in our hearts than
our gifts. Our daily lives and our willingness to live God’s way are the true test of our love for God.

２２ 「神様は、いくら完全に焼き尽くすいけにえやその他のいけにえをささげたって、
おまえが従順でなければ、ちっともお喜びになりはせん。 従順は、いけにえよりはるか
に尊い。 神様は、おまえが雄羊の脂肪をささげるよりも、お声に耳を傾けるほうをお喜
びになる。 1 Samuel 15:22
