The Bible says God is the divine union of three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. This union is known as the “trinity”.

Each divine part of God has unique characteristics. As God revealed these characteristics to people, new names were given to each part of the Trinity. We can use these names to help us pray specifically about situations in our life. In this lesson, we will look at some of the names of God.
I. God the Father
1. Creator of Heaven and Earth/God Most High

6. Spirit of sonship—We become children of God through the Holy Spirit

Evidence For The Resurrection
Jesus of Nazareth was a Jewish prophet.
ナザレのイエスはユダヤ人の預言者でした。
He claimed to be the Christ that was prophesied in the Old Testament.
彼は旧約聖書で預言された救世主であると宣言しました。
He was arrested and crucified for being a political criminal.
彼は政治犯罪者として逮捕され十字架に掛けられました。
After His death, Jesus was wrapped in a linen cloth and spices were applied to the cloth.
彼の死後、イエスはリネンの布の包まれ、その布には香料がほどこされました。
Jesus’ body was placed in a solid rock tomb and an extremely large stone was rolled against the entrance of the tomb. The stones that were used to seal tombs usually weighed about two tons and levers had to be used to roll the stones in place.
イエスの体は石をくりぬいた墓に収められ、その入口は巨大な石を転がしてふさがれました。墓をしめる為に使われた石は重量が2トンあり、石を場所に収める為にはてこを使用しなければなりませんでした。
Roman guards were stationed to guard Jesus’ tomb. The guards put the Roman seal on the tomb. Anyone who tried to enter the tomb would be guilty of breaking Roman law. If anyone was caught breaking the Roman seal, they would automatically be executed by being crucified upside down. Before Jesus died, His disciples showed their fear by hiding from the soldiers who were arresting Jesus. It is very unlikely that they would be brave enough to try to break the Roman seal.

3 days after His death, some women went to Jesus’ tomb. They saw that the stone had been moved and that Jesus’ was gone. People who went to the tomb said that it looked as if someone had picked up the stone and moved it away from the entrance of the tomb.
イエスの死後3日後、ある女性達がイエスの墓を訪れました。彼女達は石が取りのぞかれ、イエスの体がなくなっているのを目撃しました。墓を訪れた人々によると、まるで誰かが、石を持ち上げて墓から離れた所に動かしたようだと言っていました。
Did the women go to the wrong tomb? If they went to the wrong tomb then the soldiers were guarding the wrong tomb. If the women went to wrong tomb and Jesus was still dead, the Jewish and Roman leaders would have produced Jesus’ body from the right tomb. This would have stopped everyone from believing in the resurrection. Jesus body was never produced because it was not there! He had risen!
彼女達は間違えた墓に行ったのでしょうか？もし、そうであれば兵士たちも違う墓を監視していたことになります。もし、彼女達が違う墓に行き、イエスも死んだままだというのであれば、ユダヤ人とローマの指導者たちは正しい墓からイエスの遺体を取り出したことでしょう。そうなれば、皆イエスの復活を信じることもなかったでしょう。イエスの遺体は決して見つかりませんでした、そこに無かったからです。彼はよみがえったのです。
When the tomb was found to be empty, the Roman soldiers fled. They left the place they were responsible for guarding. Roman soldiers had exceptional military discipline. If a soldier did not do their duty, they were put to death. This fear made the soldiers pay close attention to every detail of their duty. It is very unlikely that the entire unit of guards would have fallen asleep.
イエスの墓が空になっていたのを発見した時、ローマ兵は逃亡しました。彼等は監視の義務のある場所を放棄したのです。ローマ兵は非常にすぐれた軍事的教育を受けていました。もし、自分の任務を怠れば殺されました。その恐れから、兵士達は任務に細心の注意を払っていました。監視隊の全員が眠ってしまうことなど、まずなかったでしょう。
The grave clothes that had been wrapped around Jesus were found in the tomb. They were still in the form of a body, only they were slightly caved in. They looked almost like an empty caterpillar’s cocoon.
イエスの体を包んでいた布は墓の中で見つかりました。それは、少しくずれてはいたものの、体の形をそのまま残しており、まるで、空の幼虫の繭のように見えました。
When the disciples found out that the tomb was empty, they stayed in the city of Jerusalem to tell people that Jesus was raised from the dead. The people in Jerusalem could easily check the tomb for themselves to see if it was empty. The empty tomb was never denied by the people in Jerusalem.
弟子たちは墓が空なのを見つけた時、エルサレムの町に留まり人々にイエスが死から復活したことを告げました。エルサレムの人々は墓が空であるかを自分達で確認することが簡単に出来ました。墓が空だった事をエルサレムの人々はまったく否定していません。
Jewish and Roman sources admit that Jesus’ tomb was empty. A Jewish man named Josephus wrote that Jesus’ tomb was empty in a group of 5th century Jewish writings called the “Toledoth Jeshu”. The Jewish people deny that Jesus was the Christ, but they admit that His tomb was empty.
あるユダヤ人とローマ人はイエスの墓が空だったことを認めています。ユダヤ人男性Josepusはイエスの墓は空であったと5世紀のユダヤ人著者グループの書”Toledoth Jeshu”に書いています。ユダヤ人はイエスが救世主ある事は否定していますが、墓が空であったことは、認めています。
Some people say that Jesus’ body was stolen by the Jewish or Roman leaders. If the Jewish or Roman leaders had Jesus’ body, they could have shown it to people. If the Jewish and Roman leaders showed people Jesus’ body, there would not be any question that Jesus was still dead. However, Jesus body could not be produced by the Jewish or Roman leaders. There has not been any evidence that Jesus’ tomb was not empty on that first Easter morning.

In the following weeks, Jesus appeared to his disciples and many other people. Jesus told people to look at the holes in His hands and feet and touch Him. Jesus ate some fish in front of a group of witnesses. He appeared to over 500 people at one time. It is very unlikely that 500 people could imagine seeing the same thing. Many of these people were still alive when the New Testament was written and they never denied seeing Jesus after His death. If these 500 people were brought into a courtroom and asked to testify for 6 minutes, their testimony would take 50 hours! That is an incredible amount of eyewitness evidence. Jesus also appeared to many other people and their accounts are recorded in the Bible and in other history books.

Jesus appeared to His friends and His enemies. One man named Saul hated Christ and persecuted His followers. Jesus appeared to Saul and it was a life changing experience for him. He became a follower of Jesus. He changed his name to Paul and wrote many of the books in the New Testament.
イエスは友人達や敵の前にも姿を現しています。サウロという男はイエスを憎んでおり、イエスに従う人達を処刑していました。イエスはサウロの前に現れ彼の人生を変えました。彼は従う者となったのです。彼は名前をパウロと変え、沢山の新約聖書を書きました。
After 40 days, Jesus’ disciples saw Him ascend into heaven through the clouds. Jesus told them that He would return the same way He left.

The people who saw Jesus after His death and during His ascension never denied what they had seen. These people were living during the time the New Testament was written.

The men who wrote the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) had either seen Jesus after His death or they were writing down what the eyewitnesses had told them. These men faced severe opposition because of the things they had written. If these men had not been convinced that Jesus rose from the dead, they would not have risked their lives to write these events down for us.

Some people say that Jesus didn’t die on the cross. They say that He only fainted and was able to leave the tomb. He was severely beaten and crucified. If He had only fainted, He would have looked very sick and in the need of major medical treatment. After Jesus was resurrected, He didn’t look sick or weak and was able to perform many miracles. After the disciples saw Jesus, their sorrow turned to joy.
イエスは十字架の上で死ななかったのだと言う人もいます。彼等はイエスは気絶していただけだから、墓から抜け出せたのだと言うのです。イエスは激しく鞭で打たれてから十字架に掛けられました。もし、死なずに気絶したのだというのであれば、彼は酷く弱っており治療の必要があったでしょう。イエスがよみがえった後、彼は病気でも弱まっているようにも見えませんでした。彼は沢山の奇跡を行うことが出来ました。弟子達がキリストを見た時、彼等の悲しみは喜びに変わりました。
These disciples did not gain anything by telling people that Jesus had resurrected. They were beaten, stoned to death, thrown to the lions, tortured and crucified. Every possible method was used to keep the disciples from talking about Jesus’ resurrection. Yet, they laid down their lives as proof of their total confidence in what they were saying.
弟子達はイエスの復活を人々に伝えても何の利益を得ることもありませんでした。彼等は鞭打たれ、石打ちの刑で殺されました。ライオンの檻に投げ入れられ、拷問を受け十字架につけられました。ありとあらゆる方法を使って弟子達がイエスの復活を世の人々に伝えようとするのを阻止しようとしました。にもかかわらず、彼らは完全な確信の証拠として彼等が伝えようとすることの為に命を掛けたのです。

In the following weeks, Jesus appeared to his disciples and many other people. Jesus told people to look at the holes in His hands and feet and touch Him. Jesus ate some fish in front of a group of witnesses. He appeared to over 500 people at one time. It is very unlikely that 500 people could imagine seeing the same thing. Many of these people were still alive when the New Testament was written and they never denied seeing Jesus after His death. If these 500 people were brought into a courtroom and asked to testify for 6 minutes, their testimony would take 50 hours! That is an incredible amount of eyewitness evidence. Jesus also appeared to many other people and their accounts are recorded in the Bible and in other history books.

Jesus appeared to His friends and His enemies. One man named Saul hated Christ and persecuted His followers. Jesus appeared to Saul and it was a life changing experience for him. He became a follower of Jesus. He changed his name to Paul and wrote many of the books in the New Testament.

After 40 days, Jesus’ disciples saw Him ascend into heaven through the clouds. Jesus told them that He would return the same way He left.

The people who saw Jesus after His death and during His ascension never denied what they had seen. These people were living during the time the New Testament was written.

The men who wrote the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) had either seen Jesus after His death or they were writing down what the eyewitnesses had told them. These men faced severe opposition because of the things they had written. If these men had not been convinced that Jesus rose from the dead, they would not have risked their lives to write these events down for us.

Some people say that Jesus didn’t die on the cross. They say that He only fainted and was able to leave the tomb. He was severely beaten and crucified. If He had only fainted, He would have looked very sick and in the need of major medical treatment. After Jesus was resurrected, He didn’t look sick or weak and was able to perform many miracles. After the disciples saw Jesus, their sorrow turned to joy.

These disciples did not gain anything by telling people that Jesus had resurrected. They were beaten, stoned to death, thrown to the lions, tortured and crucified. Every possible method was used to keep the disciples from talking about Jesus’ resurrection. Yet, they laid down their lives as proof of their total confidence in what they were saying.

A. What is Easter?
Easter is the time Christians remember Jesus’ death and celebrate His
Resurrection. God’s plan of redemption is for Jesus to pay for the sins of every person. This plan was prophesied in the Old Testament and the events recorded in the Bible perfectly reveal this event. After Jesus’ miraculous birth, He lived on the earth for 33 years. He taught many lessons and performed many miracles to prove that He was the Savior that fulfilled the Old Testament prophesies. When Jesus was 33 years old, he was arrested, beaten, and crucified. He was buried in a tomb and resurrected after 3 days. Jesus’ Resurrection Day was the first Easter.
B. Why was Jesus Arrested?
First, it’s important to understand that Jesus was a Jewish man and he was subject to the Jewish laws. It is also important to understand that the area where Jesus lived was controlled by Rome during this time. So, Jesus (and all the Jewish people) was subject to the Roman laws in addition to the Jewish laws. Jesus was misunderstood and hated by the Jewish leaders and they were looking for a way to get rid of him. They were able to use the Jewish and Roman laws to have Jesus arrested.
C. How come the Jewish leaders didn’t like Jesus? The Jewish leaders didn’t like Jesus for 4 reasons:
1. Jesus said the condition of people’s hearts was more important than following the Jewish laws. Here’s one example:

2. Jesus performed many miracles and had many followers. The Jewish leaders were jealous of Jesus. So, they were looking for a way to get rid of Him. Here’s one example:

3. Jesus said He was the Son of God and the Savior. The Jewish leaders accused Jesus of blasphemy because they didn’t believe this to be true. (Blasphemy was a Jewish crime. Blasphemy is when a person claims to be God or have God’s majesty or authority.)

4. The Jewish leaders told the Roman officials that Jesus claimed to be a king and this was a crime against Roman laws. Jesus did, in fact claim to be a heavenly king, but he never claimed to be an earthly king.

So, Jesus was arrested for 2 crimes: blasphemy and claiming to be a king.
D. Was Jesus guilty of these crimes?
The Bible says Jesus is the Son of God and He proved this by performing many miracles. His greatest miracle was finally rising from death on the first Easter. So, if Jesus really was God’s Son, He didn’t commit blasphemy. Also, Jesus never claimed to be an earthly king. So, he was not a threat to the Roman government and did not break the Roman law.
E. Why did Jesus have to die?
God’s plan was for a Savior to pay for the sins of all people. The Old Testament has many prophecies about the Savior. Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled all of these prophecies. Jesus’ death was part of God’s plan for salvation for the world. Isaiah 53 is one Old Testament prophecy about the Savior’s death.

F. How can we know if Jesus really rose from the dead?
1. No one has ever found Jesus’ body. The Jewish and Roman leaders searched for it, but they never found it. The tomb was empty except for the linen strips and burial cloth that were used to bury Jesus.

The fact that Jesus’ body was never found is also recorded in other history books from that time.
2. Roman guards were stationed to guard Jesus’ tomb and they put the Roman seal on the tomb. If anyone was caught breaking the Roman seal, they would be executed. It’s very unlikely that anyone would have risked their life to take Jesus’ body away. After the guards discovered that Jesus’ body was missing, they told the priests.

3. Jesus’ body was placed in a solid rock tomb and an extremely large stone was rolled down a slope and against the entrance of the tomb. (History tells us that several men had to use levers to roll the stones in front of the tombs because they weighed over 4000 pounds.)

3 days after Jesus died, the stone had been moved. There is no way a human could move the stone because it was so heavy and it would have had to been rolled up the slope. So, how did the stone get moved?
4. Many people saw Jesus after His Resurrection. These people included all of His disciples, some of His followers, His enemies, and large crowds of people.

5. Before the Resurrection, the disciples denied knowing Jesus because they were afraid that they would be crucified, too.

After the Resurrection, the disciples weren’t afraid anymore.
１９こう語り終えると、イエスは、天に上げられ、神の右の座につかれました。２０弟子たちは、命じられたとおり出て行き、あらゆる所で、このすばらしい知らせを宣べ伝えました。主が共に働いてくださったので、数々の奇蹟が起こり、弟子たちの教えの確かさが証明されました。〕 Mark 16:19-20
All of the disciples, except for John, were killed because of they told people about Jesus’ resurrection. They gave their lives, so we can know the truth about Jesus. Why would they risk death and torture unless they knew Jesus had really risen from death?
G. Why is Easter important?
If Jesus had stayed in His tomb, it would mean He was the same as any other man. However, Jesus didn’t stay in His tomb. So, He must be different from other men. The Bible says Jesus is the Son of God and Savior for all people.

H. What does Easter mean for me?
It’s up to each person to decide if they believe that Jesus rose from the dead. If you choose to believe in the Risen Savior, the Bible says you will receive salvation.

3. Jesus said He was the Son of God and the Savior. The Jewish leaders accused Jesus of blasphemy because they didn’t believe this to be true. (Blasphemy was a Jewish crime. Blasphemy is when a person claims to be God or have God’s majesty or authority.)
６１イエスは、ひと言もお答えになりません。大祭司は続けて、「おまえは神の子、キリストなのか」と問い詰めました。６２「そのとおりです。あなたがたは、やがてわたしが神の右の座につき、雲に乗って、もう一度この地上に来るのを見るでしょう。」６３６４この答えに、大祭司は、即座に着物を引き裂き、こう叫びました。「これだけ聞けば十分だ！さあ、お聞きのとおりだ。神を汚したこの男を、どうしよう。」こうして、イエスの死刑は全員一致で確定しました。 Mark 14:61-64
4. The Jewish leaders told the Roman officials that Jesus claimed to be a king and this was a crime against Roman laws. Jesus did, in fact claim to be a heavenly king, but he never claimed to be an earthly king.

So, Jesus was arrested for 2 crimes: blasphemy and claiming to be a king.
D. Was Jesus guilty of these crimes?
The Bible says Jesus is the Son of God and He proved this by performing many miracles. His greatest miracle was finally rising from death on the first Easter. So, if Jesus really was God’s Son, He didn’t commit blasphemy. Also, Jesus never claimed to be an earthly king. So, he was not a threat to the Roman government and did not break the Roman law.
E. Why did Jesus have to die?
God’s plan was for a Savior to pay for the sins of all people. The Old Testament has many prophecies about the Savior. Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled all of these prophecies. Jesus’ death was part of God’s plan for salvation for the world. Isaiah 53 is one Old Testament prophecy about the Savior’s death.
Isaiah Chapter 53
１しかし、このことを信じる人はなんと少ないことでしょう。いったいだれが、耳をすまして聞くでしょう。神様はだれに、救いの力をお示しになるのでしょう。２神様の目から見れば彼は柔らかな若芽のようで、不毛の地の根から芽を吹き出したのです。ところが私たちの目から見れば、人目をひくものは一つもなく、好意をいだかせるものも一つもありません。３私たちは彼をさげすみ、のけ者にしました。彼は悲しみの人、人生の苦しみをなめ尽くした人でした。私たちは彼に背き、そばを通ってもそっぽを向きました。彼が侮られても、そ知らぬふりをしていました。４ところが、彼が背負い込んだのは、実は私たちの悲しみであり、彼を押しつぶしたのは、私たちの嘆きでした。私たちは、彼がそんなに苦しむのは、罪を犯して神様に罰せられているからだと考えていました。５しかし実際は、私たちの罪のために傷つき、血を流したのです。彼は私たちに平安を与えようとして、進んで懲らしめを受けました。彼がむち打たれたので、私たちはいやされました。６私たちは神様の道を踏みはずし、羊のようにさまよい出て、自分勝手な道を歩いてきました。ところが神様は、私たち一人一人の罪を彼に負わせたのです。７彼は痛めつけられ、苦しみ、悩みました。それでも、ただのひと言も口にしませんでした。子羊のようにおとなしく屠殺場へ引いて行かれ、毛を刈り取られる羊のように、非難をあびせかける者たちの前に黙って立ちました。８人々は彼を裁判にかけ、死刑場へ引き立てました。はたして、彼が死ぬのは自分たちの罪のためであり、身代わりに刑罰を受けて苦しんでいることを知っていた者が、その当時いたでしょうか。９彼は罪人扱いを受け、金持ちの墓に葬られました。しかし実際は、悪いことなど何一つしたわけでもなく、悪いことばを一度でも口にしたわけではありません。１０彼を傷つけ、悲しみで押しつぶすのは、実は神様の計画だったのです。罪が赦されるためのささげ物として、そのたましいをささげる時、彼は多くの子孫を見ることができます。しかも彼は復活するので、神様の計画は彼の手によって陽の目を見ます。１１彼は、自分のたましいが苦しみもだえた末、神様のみわざが実現するのを見て、すっかり満足します。わたしの正しいしもべは、このような苦しみを経験して、多くの者を神様の前に無罪とする。彼が人々の罪をいっさい負うからだ。１２わたしは彼に、偉大な勝利者としての栄誉を与える。彼は進んでいのちをささげたのだ。彼は罪人の一人に数えられ、多くの者の罪を負い、罪人のために神にとりなした。
F. How can we know if Jesus really rose from the dead?
1. No one has ever found Jesus’ body. The Jewish and Roman leaders searched for it, but they never found it. The tomb was empty except for the linen strips and burial cloth that were used to bury Jesus.

The fact that Jesus’ body was never found is also recorded in other history books from that time.
2. Roman guards were stationed to guard Jesus’ tomb and they put the Roman seal on the tomb. If anyone was caught breaking the Roman seal, they would be executed. It’s very unlikely that anyone would have risked their life to take Jesus’ body away. After the guards discovered that Jesus’ body was missing, they told the priests.

3. Jesus’ body was placed in a solid rock tomb and an extremely large stone was rolled down a slope and against the entrance of the tomb. (History tells us that several men had to use levers to roll the stones in front of the tombs because they weighed over 4000 pounds.)

3 days after Jesus died, the stone had been moved. There is no way a human could move the stone because it was so heavy and it would have had to been rolled up the slope. So, how did the stone get moved?
4. Many people saw Jesus after His Resurrection. These people included all of His disciples, some of His followers, His enemies, and large crowds of people.

5. Before the Resurrection, the disciples denied knowing Jesus because they were afraid that they would be crucified, too.
１５シモン・ペテロは、もう一人の弟子といっしょに、恐る恐るイエスについて行きました。その弟子はうまいぐあいに大祭司の知り合いだったので、イエスといっしょに中庭に入れてもらえましたが、１６ペテロは、じりじりしながら、門の外に立っているほかありません。そこへあの弟子が来て、門番の女に頼み込んだので、やっと入れてもらえることになりました。１７ほっとしたのもつかの間、女は、まじまじとペテロを見やり、「ねえ、ちょっと、あんた、イエスの弟子じゃない？」と聞くではありませんか。「とんでもない、何を言うんだい。」そらとぼけてその場はなんとか切り抜けました。１８寒い日でした。警備員や召使たちは、炭火をかこんで、暖まっています。ペテロも何くわぬ顔で、いっしょに立って暖まっていました。２５一方、シモン・ペテロはどうしたでしょう。火のそばで暖まっていると、またしても人々が、「あんた、あの人の弟子じゃないかね」と問い詰めるではありませんか。「弟子だって？冗談じゃない。」２６こう答えたものの、まずいことに、ペテロが耳を切り落とした、あの大祭司の部下の親類にあたる者が居合わせたのです。「しらばっくれてもだめだぜ。あのオリーブ園で、確かにイエスといっしょだったぞ。」２７こうまで言われても、ペテロはあくまで白をきりました。 と、その時、鶏の鳴く声が聞こえました。 裁判を受けるイエス John 18:15-18, 25-27
After the Resurrection, the disciples weren’t afraid anymore.
１９こう語り終えると、イエスは、天に上げられ、神の右の座につかれました。２０弟子たちは、命じられたとおり出て行き、あらゆる所で、このすばらしい知らせを宣べ伝えました。主が共に働いてくださったので、数々の奇蹟が起こり、弟子たちの教えの確かさが証明されました。〕 Mark 16:19-20
All of the disciples, except for John, were killed because of they told people about Jesus’ resurrection. They gave their lives, so we can know the truth about Jesus. Why would they risk death and torture unless they knew Jesus had really risen from death?
G. Why is Easter important?
If Jesus had stayed in His tomb, it would mean He was the same as any other man. However, Jesus didn’t stay in His tomb. So, He must be different from other men. The Bible says Jesus is the Son of God and Savior for all people.
１６実に神は、ひとり子をさえ惜しまず与えるほどに、世を愛してくださいました。 それは、神の御子を信じる者が、だれ一人滅びず、永遠のいのちを得るためです。１７神がご自分の御子を世にお遣わしになったのは、世に有罪判決を下すためではありません。 救うためです。 John 3:16-17
H. What does Easter mean for me?
It’s up to each person to decide if they believe that Jesus rose from the dead. If you choose to believe in the Risen Savior, the Bible says you will receive salvation.
９なぜなら、もし自分の口で「イエス・キリストは私の主です」と告白し、自分の心で、神様はイエス・キリストを死人の中から復活させてくださったと信じるなら、あなたは救われるからです。 Romans 10:9
