1. This proverb has verses about the “perfect
woman”. This proverb is still useful for
us today. Women can use it as an example
of the way they should live. Men can use
it as an example of the kind of woman they should marry.

This proverb describes the
“perfect woman”. None of us are
perfect! But, God can change us into the
women and men He wants us to be.

31:14
She is like a merchant ship. She brings her food from afar.
Today, this could be a woman
who travels to another city to buy her groceries.
彼女は商船のようで、遠い所から食料を持ってきます。今日では、他の町へ行き、食料品を買ってくる女性の事でしょう。
7.１５まだ暗いうちに起きて朝食のしたくをすませ、使用人の仕事の計画を立てるのが、彼女の務めです。Proverbs

She gets up before dawn and
cooks for her family and servants.
Today, this could be a woman
who gets up early to cook breakfast for her family.
彼女は夜明け前に起き、家族と召使の為に料理をします。今日では、早起きして家族の為に朝食を作る女性の事でしょう。
8. １６畑を買う時は自分の目でよく調べて買い、ぶどう畑をつくります。

She buys a field and plants a
vineyard.
Today, this could be a woman
who owns a business or plants a garden.
彼女は土地を買い、ぶどう園を作ります。今日では、経営者、またはガーデニングをする女性の事でしょう。
9. １７こまねずみのように働き、 Proverbs 31:17
She works vigorously and has
strong arms.
Today, this could be a woman
who exercises and takes care of herself.
彼女は精力的に働き、腕力があります。今日では、運動をして体を大切にしている女性の事でしょう。
Proverbs 31:13-17 tells us it
is okay for women to have jobs and/or activities outside the home, but a
woman’s family and home should always be her first priority.
箴言31:13-17によると、女性が仕事を持ったり、家の外で活動をするのはよいとされています。しかし、女性の家族と家庭が最優先であるべきです。
10. １８へたな買い物はしません。 夜は夜で、遅くまでせっせと働くのです。

Her trading is profitable and
her lamp doesn’t go out at night.
In Bible times, not everyone
could afford to burn a lamp at night.
So, this woman was financially secure.
Also, in Bible times, a
candle burning at night meant you would welcome travelers into your home. So, this woman was available to help other
people, as well as her own family.
Today, this could be a woman
who manages her money well and is able to give money to charities. Also, this could be a woman who welcomes
people into her home on a regular basis.
彼女の取引は有益で、ランプは夜になっても消えません。
聖書の時代、皆が夜にランプを灯せるわけではありませんでした。この女性は経済的に安定していたのです。そして、聖書の時代、夜にろうそくを灯しているというのは、自分の家に旅人を迎えられるということを意味していました。この女性は家族と同様に、他人を助けることもできました。今日では、自分のお金をきちんと管理し、慈善に寄付できる女性のことです。そしてまた、日頃から人々を迎えいれている女性の事でしょう。
11. １９貧しい人には服を縫ってやりProverbs 31:19
She is holding a distaff and
spindle. These were used for spinning
thread. They are also symbols of being
practical.
Today, this could be a woman
who likes to sew or who shops for bargains.
彼女は糸巻き棒とスピンドル（紡錘）を持っています。これは糸を紡ぐ為に使われました。これは実用的である、という象徴です。今日では、縫い物をするのが好きな人、または買い物上手な女性の事でしょう。
12. ２０困っている人を喜んで助けます。 Proverbs 31:20
She opens her arms to
the poor and needy.
Today, this could be a woman
who has a kind heart and helps other people.
彼女は貧しい人、困っている人を歓迎します。今日では、優しい心をもち、他の人を助ける女性の事でしょう。
13. ２１家族みんなの冬服をちゃんと用意してあるので、冬がきてもあわてません。
Proverbs 31:21
She is not afraid of the snow
because her household is clothed in scarlet.
Scarlet material was very expensive in Bible times. So, this woman made sure her family had nice
clothes.
Today, this could be a woman
who plans ahead so her family has nice clothes when they need them.
彼女は雪を恐れません。というのは、家族は皆、緋色の服を着ているからです。緋色の生地は聖書の時代、とても高価なものでした。この女性は家族が良い服を着ていられるようにしました。今日では、家族の為に前もって計画し、必要な時に良い服を用意する女性の事でしょう。
14. ２２部屋には最高級の絨毯を敷き、紫色の上等のガウンを着ます。
Proverbs 31:22
She makes coverings for her
bed. It also says she is clothed in fine
linen and purple. (Fine linen and purple
meant she wore expensive and dignified clothes.)
Today, this could be a woman
who quilts, knits, or crochets. This
could be a woman who takes pride in her appearance.
彼女はベッドを整えます。また、彼女は素晴しいリンネルと紫の服を着ています。（これは彼女が高価な気品のある服を着ているという意味です。）今日では、キルト、編み物、かぎ針編みをする女性の事でしょう。また外見に自信のある女性でもあります。
These verses tell us that she
took good care of her family. They also
tell us she took care of herself.

15. ２３夫は人々に信頼される町の指導者の一人です。Proverbs
31:23
This woman’s husband was
respected by the city elders.
Today, this could be a woman
who takes good care of her family so her husband can focus on his work and have
time to help other people.
この女性の夫は町の長老達に尊敬されています。今日では、家族のことをよく面倒みている女性、そして、その夫は仕事に専念し、他の人を助ける時間も持てる人の事でしょう。

She is strong and
dignified. She’s not afraid of the
future.
Today, this could be a woman
who takes good care of herself and her family.
She’s not worried about the future because she knows her family is
strong and she trusts in God.
彼女は強く、気品があります。彼女は将来の事を恐れません。今日では、自分と家族のことを大切にしている女性の事でしょう。彼女は将来の事を心配しません。というのは、彼女は家族が強いことを知っていて、神に信頼しているからです。
18. ２６決してばかなことは言わず、いつも人を思いやります。
Proverbs 31:26
She speaks with wisdom
and teaches others.
Today, this could be a woman
who teaches a class or a woman who people ask for advice. It could also be a woman who teaches others
by the way she lives. Other people want
to be like her.
彼女は知恵があり、他の人を教えます。今日では、クラスを教える女性、または人々にアドバイスを与える女性の事でしょう。または、彼女の生き方が他の人を教える女性の事かもしれません。他の人は彼女のようになりたいと思うのです。

nice, but a woman who “fears the Lord” should be praised.
“Fear of the Lord” means that
you understand that God is God and you are only a person He created. It means you have respect for God and His
Word.
誰でも上品に話をしたり良く見せたりすることはできます。しかし、「主を畏れる女性」は褒め称えられるべきです。「主を畏れる」とは、神が神であり、あなたという人は神が創られた唯一の存在であると理解すること、また神とその言葉を尊敬するという事です。
23.３１「りっぱな女だ」と評判になり、ついには、国の指導者にまでほめられるようになります。 Proverbs 31:31
